Abstract:
A study of the kinetics and mechanism of chemical reactions in supercritical fluids is considered. An experimental procedure was proposed for examining reversible chemical reactions in supercritical water. The reaction kinetics of 2-propanol dehydration in supercritical water was studied. It was found that the uncatalyzed reactions of olefin hydrogenation by hydrogen dissolved in supercritical water occur at high rates near the critical point of water. The experimental data on the dehydration of 2-propanol in supercritical water are adequately described by first-order reaction rate equations. The rate constants and activation energies of 2-propanol dehydration near the critical point of supercritical water were found.
