Abstract:
The influence of the component ratio on the physicochemical properties of V(2)O(5)-H(3)PO(4)-SiO(2) mixtures was studied. It was shown that coarse-grained vanadium(V) phosphate dihydrate is formed when vanadium(V) oxide, phosphoric acid, and silica gel are stirred together. During heat treatment, the silica gel reacts with free phosphoric acid, keeping vanadyl metaphosphate from forming. The grain size of the solid products is controlled mainly by phase constitution.
