Abstract:
A review with 14 refs. We have considered the sol-gel processes occurring on the formation of individual and binary, poorly sol. hydroxides, materials-precursors of supports and catalysts, which contain Al(III), Fe(III) and Cu(II). Sol particles and hydroxide gels form from the key complexes of the pptd. metals. We have established a very important phenomenon of "inheritance" of the structure of key polynuclear hydroxo- complexes by hydroxides, which dets. a genetic relation of the nearest order between gels of amorphous hydroxides and the structure of the corresponding PHC (polynuclear hydroxo complex). The structure, chem. compn., and arrangement of the functional atom groups of the key PHC carry an information about the evolution of amorphous hydroxides on ageing up to the point when they transform tot he crystal state. The no. of crystal phases formed on ageing corresponds to the no. of structurally and chem. detectable versions of amorphous hydroxides in ppts. When one knows the structure of the key PHC and their concn. in the parental soln., it is possible to predict quant. a phase compn. of the ageing products.
