Abstract:
Regardless of the nature of the support (SiO2, C) and the size of the Pd metal particles (19-108 Å), the Pd-Pd interatomic distances are close to those for the bulk metal. Adsorption of CO does not change the structure of the Pd particles, while H2 adsorption at 25 °C leads to an increase of 5–7% in the Pd-Pd distance, evidently as a result of the formation of bulk palladium hydride.
