Abstract:
The conversions of the σ- and π-allyl complexes of propylene formed (1) upon the adsorption of propylene and allyl bromide on an oxide catalyst surface, and (2) upon interacting bis(π-allyl)nickel and tetrakis(π-allyl)-molybdenum with a SiO2 surface have been studied by thermodesorption techniques. From the results it has been concluded that symmetric π-allyl and asymmetric σ-allyl complexes of propylene may participate in the formation of acrolein.
