Abstract:
The catalytic oxidation of vanadyl by oxygen in the presence of sodium molybdate has been studied. Kinetic and spectrophotometric data show that the activation of oxygen is due to its interaction with a Mo VI−V IV complex formed in the solution. A salt of this complex has been isolated, its composition is [(C2H5)4N]2H4[Mo3V3O18].
