Abstract:
The catalytic properties of Bi2O3, MoO3 and Bi2 (MoO4)3 in methanol oxidation are considered with respect to the binding energy of surface oxygen. MoO3 and Bi2(MoO4)3 with high binding energy of oxygen are characterized by good selectivity in the oxidation of alcohol to formaldehyde. However, in this case no correlation is observed between the variations in binding energy, activity and selectivity.
