Abstract:
A simple optical instrument based on small LEDs and a solidstate photodetector is proposed to
detect the petroleum contamination of water without using a spectrometer. The high sensitivity of the instru
ment in detecting petroleum fractions characterized by the maxima of luminescence bands ranging from
460 to 530 nm is demonstrated
