Abstract:
The crystal structure of monoclinic Na3H6[PMo6V6O40 ] 16H20; has been determined and refined as far as R = 0.079 from three-dimensional diffraction data ("Syntex P21 " automatic diffractometer, 2758 reflections, MoKalfa radiation); space group P21/m , a = 13.667 (9), b = 15.260 (7), c = 11.529(5) A, beta=106.98(4)o , Z =2. The basic fragments of the structure are: a) the heteropolyanion [PMo6V6040] 9- of the Keggin type with a central P tetrahedron and V and Mo atoms distributed randomly in the 12 positions; b) Na octahedra with apices occupied by four H2O molecules
and two O(terminal) atoms from different HPAn; c) "free" H2O molecules, connected by a system of contacts with the first two. The vibrational (infrared and laser Raman) spectra of the compounds have been studied, and characteristics have been found, making it possible to identify the formation of the hexavanadium acid in aqueous solutions.
