Abstract:
We investigated the influence of reduced temperatures on the infrared (IR) spectra of oxygen chemosorbed on oxides of iron, chromium, and manganese. A decrease in temperature to -180o leads to an increase both in the intensity at the maximum and in the integral intensity of all the absorption maxima for the metal-oxygen bonds. The absorption maxima for the adsorbed oxygen are displaced in the high-frequency direction by 3-5 cm -1 when the temperature is reduced. The observed effect is discussed.
