Abstract:
The production of methyl acetate directly from dimethyl ether was performed by halide-free carbonylation. The solid superacid catalysts with high density of Brønsted acid sites Rh/CsxH3−xPW12O40 were compared to Rh/SO4/ZrO2 and Rh/WOx/ZrO2. The correlation between the nature of acid sites and activity and selectivity of the catalysts in halide-free carbonylation of DME was found.
