Abstract:
The thermodynamic state of water in hydrated perfluorinated membanes of Nafion® and Aquivion® types, prepared by aqueous emulsion copolymerization, was studied by DSC in the temperature interval from −80 to 250°C. The amounts of structured and nonstructured water in the membranes with different densities of the distribution of sulfonic acid groups were determined. The correlation of the proton conductivity of the membranes with the content of structured and nonstructured water was revealed.
