Experimental Testings of a Submersible Photoreactor for Degradation of Gasoline-Containing Mixtures

Degradation of model gasoline-containing mixtures was studied using H2O2/UV, Fe/H2O2/UV, and TiO2/H2O2/UV treatments. Gasoline concentration ranged from 30 to 720 mg/L. The experiments have been carried out in a small static-batch photoreactor (ca. 30 cm3), furnished with a condenser and a magnetic stirrer, and in a photoreactor (ca. 24 dm3), equipped with a submersible high pressure mercury lamp (250 W) and a stirrer. It has been shown that the submersible photoreactor provides high degradation and mineralization of gasoline-containing mixtures.
