Abstract:
0,5 nm Pt-ReOx species (x≤1) of atomic dispersion were formed and stabilized on the titania surface. The size, charge and chemical composition of Pt-ReOx were characterized in detail by means of HRTEM/STEM with EDX mapping, XPS and FTIR, etc. It was shown that these centers with atomic ratio Re:Pt=2 are highly active and selective in hydrogenation of carboxylic acid to alcohol under very mild conditions (T=110C, P=50 bar). Moreover the reaction rate constant in hydrogenation of hexanoic acid was directly proportional to the number of Pt-ReOx centers. As for Ru-NPy pair in homogeneous pincer type Ru-NPy compexes the neighbouring Pt-O atoms forms similar capable to dissociate H2 heterolytically with generation of Pt-hydride for hydrogenation of carbonyl group of acid. Indeed, the values of TOFs (40 h-1) and selectivities (99%) are approaching to those of homogeneous catalyst. First order kinetic model of hydrogenation process described well kinetic data obtained in the wide range of reaction conditions.
