Abstract:
Regularities of thiophene hydrogenolysis over the M(I)/SiO2, (M(I)W)/SiO2, and M(I)WS(2) catalysts, where M(I) is a metal ion of the first transition row, as well as over the SiO2-supported Ni-Nb and Ni-Re sulfide catalysts are considered. In spite of the significant difference in the activity of bimetallic sulfide catalysts, the main regularities of thiophene hydrogenolysis are shown to be retained for all catalysts: the low values of the activation energy and the absence of possible reaction intermediates, in particular tetrahydrothiophene and butadiene, in the gas phase. The results obtained are rationalized in terms of a concerted mechanism in the coordination sphere of a bimetallic active center included in an electroneutral macromolecule of the active component, the sulfide bimetallic compound.
