Abstract:
The formation of 4-methylthiazole from methylisopropylidenimine and SO2 on acid-base catalysts has been studied. The most active catalysts are those containing an acid-base pair: a weak Lewis site and a strong basic site. The catalysts containing only proton-donating sites are low-active.
