Abstract:
Solvolytic reactions occurring in commercial monochlorodimethyl ether in zinc chloride solutions were studied by H-1 NMR. The reason is discussed for the higher selectivity of zinc chloride in comparison with titanium(IV) chloride as chloromethylation catalyst in production of ion-exchange resins.
