Reactions between molybdenum oxygen-containing clusters MoxOy+ (x = 1-3, y = 1-9) and ammonia were studied by ion cyclotron resonance. The formation of several nitrogen-containing ions including the Mo3O7N2 complex with molecular nitrogen was observed. The upper and lower limits of bond energies in the complexes were estimated (kcal/mol): Mo+-NH (<92), MoO+-NH (<117), MoO2+-NH (<71), Mo2O5+-NH3 (>56), Mo3O8+-NH3 (>58), Mo3O8+-NH (>44), Mo3O7(NH3)(+)-NH3 (>58), Mo3O7+-2NH (>88), Mo3O7+-N-2 (>112) in the Mo=N-N=Mo structure, and Mo3O7+-N-2 (>56) in the Mo-N=N-Mo structure.
