Abstract:
The reactions of Mo+ and oxygen-containing molybdenum cluster ions MoxOy+ (x = 1-3 and y = 1-9) with methane, ethylene oxide, cyclopropane, and methanol were studied by ion cyclotron resonance. The formation of several organometallic ions, including MoxOy(CH4)+ (x = 1-3, y = 2, 5, 8), was observed. The upper and lower bond energy limits were estimated for oxometallocarbene complexes, 111 > D0(MoxOy+-CH2) > 82 kcal/mol (x = 1-3 and y = 2, 5, 8), and for complexes with the methyl radical D0(MoOy +-CH3) > 91.6 kcal/mol (y = 2, 3), D0(Mo2Oy +-CH3) > 91.6 kcal/mol (y = 4-6), D0(Mo3Oy+-CH3) > 91.6 kcal/mol (y = 8, 9); methane D0(MoOy+-CH4) > 89 kcal/mol (y = 2, 3), D0(Mo2O5+-CH4) > 89 kcal/mol, D0(Mo3O8 +-CH4) > 89 kcal/mol, and hydrogen atom D0(MoO3 +-H) > 104 kcal/mol.
