Abstract:
The purpose of the present work was to find the cause of the loss of activity of IK-12-1 copper oxide catalyst which is used for removal of pollutants from process gases of the autoclave compounding section, and which had been in use under production conditions for 1 one-half years. The results of physicochemcial analysis of catalyst samples are consistent with the conclusions of thermodynamic prediction of the causes of catalyst poisoning. Removal of aerosols and of oil vapors from the gas phase at the stage preceding catalytic oxidation would prolong the service life of IK-12-1 catalyst.
