Abstract:
A study has been made of the demetallizing efficiencies of Al-Co-Mo catalysts having various quantities of macropores with radium greater than 100 nm, under conditions of hydrodesulfurization of a heavy petroleum feed (atmospheric residuum or deasphalted vacuum residuum), containing less than equivalent to 100 mg/kg of vanadium and nickel. It has been shown that on a 0. 2-0. 6 mm grain, the demetallizing efficiency does not depend on the pore structure of the catalyst. In a whole grain (2-4 mm), owing to the large dimensions of the metal-containing particles, diffusional hindrance appears.
