Apparent Rate of Heterogeneous Catalytic Reaction Accompanied by Phase Transformations on the Surface of a Catalyst

The apparent rate of heterogeneous catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide and hydrazine hydrate was determined experimentally. The equilibrium states of a catalyst were revealed at which its temperature is below that of its environment, while the reagent concentration on the grain surface is higher than in the bulk of the liquid phase. These effects are explained. A general diagram illustrating hydrodynamic and thermal regimes occurring in the course of the decomposition of liquids on the grain of a catalyst is proposed.
