Abstract:
With the aim of studying the influence of the nature of the support on the properties of supported rhodium-containing catalysts, the adsorption of CO and H2 on Rh/SiO2, Rh/Al2O3, and Rh/La2O3 has been investigated. It has been found that in the case of Rh/La2O3, along with the surface complexes that are characteristic for Rh/SiO2 and Rh/Al2O3, new surface compounds of adsorbed CO and H2 are formed. On the basis of an analysis of the spectrochemical properties of these compounds, it has been concluded that they are formed at the metal/substrate boundary with the participation of the metal atoms and also the atoms of the support.
