Abstract:
The formation of a carbonium ion from 1,3-butadiene during its interaction with protonic acid centers of V2O5/Al2O3 has been followed spectroscopically. From analysis of the decomposition products of the carbonium ion and comparison of its spectra with the spectra for adsorbed pentadienes it has been proposed that carbonium ions formed from 1,3-butadiene can possess a cyclic structure.
