Abstract:
A series of new organometallic polymers, PdnC60, with varying PdC60 ratios was prepared and studied using EXAFS spectroscopy. The Pd K-edge EXAFS analysis suggests that the Pd atoms act as bridges between adjacent C60 molecules by coordination to the pi-electrons of their double bonds. The distance between the Pd atom and the nearest carbon atoms Pd-C1 (2.27(3) Å) is found to be somewhat longer than that in typical Pd(O)-olefin pi-complexes.
