Abstract:
Whitlockite-structure Ca phosphate forms on a thermal treatment of phosphate catalyst for olefin dehydrogenation owing to a reaction of Ni or Cr compounds, present in the catalysts, with hydroxylapatite. The whitlockite (I) structure is stabilized by intrusion of Ni or Cr ions into octahedrons, which are oriented along the 3rd-order axis and which are lacking Ca. Cr stabilizes the I structure better than Ni. The study involves x-ray diffraction, DTA, and IR spectroscopic investigations.
