Abstract:
1. The oxidation of propylene was studied using silver catalysts with considerable propylene excess. Diallyl is the main product of partial oxidation of propylene.
2. It is assumed that the direction of propylene conversion to diallyl or propylene oxide on silver is determined by the surface condition of the catalyst. On the surface subject to increased oxidation (in the presence of electro-negative additives) propylene oxide is formed. Additives, which are more electro-positive than silver promote formation of diallyl.
