Abstract:
Structural changes in rat serum high density lipoproteins (HDL upon their storage in vitro were studied by the small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) method. HDL incubation at 4° C for 11 days lead to the aggregation structural changes accompanied by disarrangements in the internal HDL structure. The obtained results correlated well with the considerations that HDL are spherical particles with the lipid nucleus and protein covers (20 ÷ 22) Å thick. High efficiency of the SAXS method for studying the structural changes in lipoproteins was shown. For the first time, the small-angle X-ray scattering technique was used for studying the polydispersion forms of lipoproteins (HDL).
