Abstract:
The EPR method has been used to study the weakly magnetic systems MgO-NiO and MgO-NiO-Li2O. The concentration of nickelous ions was varied in the range 0. 05 to 10 at. %. The form of the spectrum depends on the method of preparation of the specimen and on the purity of the original magnesium salts. The dependence of delta H for the nickelous ion line on the concentration of added nickel ions has been studied. It is concluded thatthe EPR spectrum can give information on the reproducibility of the preparation of a specimen and the extent of its contamination by foreign paramagnetic impurity cations.
