Abstract:
Surface complexes of cyanopyridine on a V–Ti–O catalyst were studied by in situ FTIR spectroscopy. In the temperature range of 130–290 C, two types of adsorbed cyanopyridine bound to different sites (Lewis acid sites or Bro¨nsted acid sites) were found to transform into surface nicotinamide. At 220–290 C, surface heterocyclic complexes decompose to form carboxylates and ammonium ions.
