Abstract:
Two types of individual Cu ions differing in the way they are stabilized in the zeolite matrix have been found by the ESR method in CuNa Y zeoiites containing various concentrations of Cu which have been studied. A reversible transformation of these ions is observed during hydration-dehydration and the hydration is accompanied by axial coordination of the Cu ions. With low Cu concentrations the ions are mainly present in sites of tetragonal symmetry which provide a limited ionic mobility. With an increase in the Cu concentration, associates with an increased Cu concentration are formed during dehydration in addition to the individual ions.
