Abstract:
The structural rearrangement of zinc hydroxocarbonate (ZHC) to zinc oxide (ZnO) was studied in situ by means of a transmission electron microscope and electron microdiffraction. The obtained pseudomorphous relationships and comparison of the structures of ZHC and ZnO showed that in the phase transition the cationic sublattice of Zn 2+ in the ZHC is almost completely preserved in the ZnO, while the anionic sublattice is rearranged more substantially. The obtained data confirm the ideas about the determining role of cationic matrices in the formation of the crystal structures.
