Abstract:
Digitized field emission signals from CO oxidation on Pt(100) and Pt(210) are presented. The Pt(100) cycles oscillate in phase with those from Pt(210) to within the time resolution of 40 ms. Implications of such synchronicity are addressed. The cycles of both Pt(100) and Pt(210) display a double peak structure. A model will be proposed which involves subsequent adsorption of CO and oxygen for both planes. The oscillations are attributed to the different sticking coefficients of oxygen on Pt(100) and Pt(210).
