The invention relates to catalysts and methods for producing hydrocarbons including liquid synthetic fuels, olefins, solid hydrocarbons and the oxygen-containing derivatives thereof (for example alcohols) which are obtained from the mixture of CO and hydrogen (syngas). The aim of the invention is to develop an efficient catalyst and a method for the catalytic production of hydrocarbons and the oxygen-containing derivatives thereof from the syngas and to ensure the high productivity of the volume unit of a reactor. The inventive method consists in passing carbon monoxide and hydrogen through one or several fixed particles (bodies) of a concentrated permeable catalyst which contains not less then 0.4 g/cm3 of an aggregation of phases, said aggregation being embodied in the form of the phase of a catalytically active metal fixed to the phase of an oxide support which substantially effects the dispersivity of the phase of the active metal and the other physical and chemical properties thereof, the body of the catalyst having the permeability equal to or higher then 5*10 15 m2. A metal of Group VIII or an intermetalic compound containing said metals is used as a catalytically active metal, the content of the phase of the catalytically active metal in the aggregation of phases being equal to or higher then 5 mass %.
