It was shown that rubidium and cesium ferrites are reduced in conditions of dehydrogenation of n-butenes with H2O/C4H8 < 15, and diffusion processes significantly affect reduction. The phases of the rubidium and cesium ferrites are stabilized in the reaction medium with the formation of solid solutions with silicon dioxide. Cesium ferrite also decomposes in oxygen medium with water vapor. Two types of distribution of rubidium and cesium ferrites occur in the catalysts as a function of the dispersion of the starting iron oxide; a crust, where the iron oxide particles are coated with a ferrite crust, and statistical, where the ferrite and iron oxide particles are statistically distributed in the grain volume. Rubidium and cesium ferrites or their solid solutions with silicon dioxide are the active components of the catalyst. Iron oxide either acts as the support for the ferrites or as a filler as a function of the dispersion.
