Abstract:
Data presented in this paper show that the chemical shift of the terminal nitrogen atom of N2O adsorbed on heterogeneous catalysts can be used for the characterization of Lewis surface acidic sites. 15N NMR spectra of N2O adsorbed on a number of zeolites show that the sites in H-ZSM-5 zeolites are stronger Lewis acids than those in H-Y zeolites. The number of Lewis acidic sites on γ-Al2O3 treated in vacuum at 773 and 873 K are determined.
