Abstract:
The possibility of determining the composition and size of the critical nucleus from experimental determinations of the rate of isothermal nucleation of a multicomponent vapor is demonstrated. The experimental apparatus used to study spontaneous nucleation of a vapor of glycerin and dibutyl phthalate in an atmosphere of argon is described. The size and composition of the critical nuclei in the given fluid system were determined for the same condensation temperature and different ratios of vapor components. This work is pertinent to atmospheric protection problems.
