Abstract:
The adsorption was studied of C3H6, C3D6, NO, and CO on CuO/Al2O3 and Cu(II)YA zeolitic catalysts. The IR spectra are given of the adsorbed species. C3H6 and C3D6 form stable surface π-complexes with Cu(I). The Cu(I) is formed by surface reduction reactions due to electron exchange between the C:C bond and Cu(II) with formation of carbocations. The differential heat of adsorption of C3H6 on CuO/Al2O3 was detected. The formation of a surface polymer is observed.
