Abstract:
The basic principles of the theory, methodology, and instrumental design of a new reference-free chemical method of phase analysis, the method of differential dissolution, are described. The method is based on the laws of stoichiography, which determine the stoichiometry of mass exchange processes in the dynamic regime. The works devoted to the use of the differential dissolution method for phase analysis of heterogeneous catalysts of different types, compositions, and structures are reviewed. Unique possibilities of this method are demonstrated for determining quantitative and qualitative phase compositions of multiphase heterogeneous catalysts, including those with unknown phase compositions.
