Abstract:
In Me2S decomposition over γ-Al2O3 at 400-500°, increasing the temperature increased the decomposition rate and decreased the selectivity with respect to MeSH formation. Maximum yield of MeSH (22 mol %) was obtained at 34% selectivity, and maximum selectivity (63%) was obtained at 16% Me2S conversion. The γ-Al2O3 activity depended on the amount of deposited C and S and was max. at C and S concentrations of 4-6 and ≤2%, resp., on the catalyst.
