Abstract:
In the conversion of MeOH to hydrocarbons in the presence of zeolite ZSM-5, increasing the max temperature of the process led to increased rate of catalyst deactivation by coke deposition and to increased width of the reaction zone, both resulting in shortening the period of catalyst activity. Two temperature regions existed for catalyst deactivation, differing in the temperature dependence of deactivation rate, the degree of coke condensation, and the 3-dimensional structure of the coke. The deposition of coke occurred at active centers at the external surface of the zeolite crystals.
