Abstract:
Powder diffraction analysis and analytical electron microscopy were used to study the atomic structure of V-Mo catalysts in the 10-50 mole % V2O5 range of compositions. It is shown that the basis of the structure consists of two-layer packets of (Mo + V4+) and (Mo + V5+) octahedra. The degree of distortion of the M-O bonds decreases in measure with increasing concentration of Mo and fraction of V4+. As this happens, the bond between packets become weaker and the structure is the most unordered in the region of compositions corresponding to 10-12.5% V2O5.
