Abstract:
On the oxidized surface of V-Sb-Bi oxidized catalyst, ammonia is adsorbed in coordinated, protonated, and partially dehydrogenated forms. Adsorption of toluene at 20-degrees-C gives a protonated form and a pi-complex; adsorption at 175-degrees-C or higher gives benzoate structures that are the predecessors of products of exhaustive oxidation and demethylation of toluene. When benzylamine or benzonitrile is adsorbed, surface compounds of the benzylimine or benzamide type are formed.
