Abstract:
The dependence of selectivity of aniline alkylation by methanol on zeolite chemical composition, process temperature and weight hourly space velocity of raw materials has been studied. The experimental conditions are found, where the ratios of o-, p- and m-toluidines in reaction products coincide neither with partial rates of electrophilic substitution nor with those of thermodynamic equilibrium. The explanation of results is based on the assumption that complexes between aniline molecules and zeolite active sites are formed depending on temperatures of reaction with different orientations of the aniline molecule on the external zeolite surface and inside zeolite channels.
