Abstract:
At 170-450° at low pressure the reactivity of n-C1-8 alkanes toward oxidation by an associative mechanism decreased with increasing chain length; the limiting step was reaction of mol. O with the partially oxidized surface of the compound. During oxidation by a stage mechanism the reactivity increased with increasing no. of C atoms; the limiting step was reaction of the hydrocarbon with the catalyst with cleavage of C-H bond. MO calcinations for intermediate complexes were given.
