Abstract:
Temkin's (1963, 1966) theory of steady state reactions was used to interpret the complex temperature dependence of the rate of steady state catalytic reactions. The following types are discussed: (1) Single-path reactions, all steps irreversible, such as the isomerization A + Z → AZ, AZ → A'Z, A'Z → B + Z where Z is catalyst; (2) Single-path reaction with 1 irreversible step such as A + Z = AZ, AZ = A'Z, A'Z =B + Z; (3) Single-path reaction with all steps reversible such as A + Z=AZ, AZ =A'Z, A'Z =B + Z; (4) Multi-path (concurrent) reaction.
