Abstract:
The IR spectra and thermal-desorption study show that allyl bromide (RBr) sorbs on the surface of CuO-MgO solid solution in reversible and irreversible forms. The π- and σ-complexes adsorb reversibly. RBr and propylene form analogous surface complexes. C3H5 radical of RBr forms a complex with O of the catalyst. It can be stabilized on the surface as C3H5+. A significant concentration of acrolein forms on the catalyst surface owing to RBr sorption. It exceeds that formed by propylene sorption.
