Abstract:
Using the kinetic method, the authors study the possibility that catalytic oxidation of hydrogen on ferric oxide takes place by alternating reduction and oxidation of the catalysts surface. For this purpose, they measure and compare the kinetic characteristics of the catalytic reaction and the postulated stages (reduction of the ferric oxide surface by hydrogen and reoxidation of the surface by oxygen). The experimental results are discussed from the viewpoint of a two-stage oxidation- reduction scheme of oxidative catalysis on oxide catalysts.
