Abstract:
During a catalytic conversion of hydrocarbons, the main process is often accompanied by an undesirable side process, namely deposition of coke on the catalyst. As a result, the process becomes noncontinuous, because of the necessity of regenerating the catalysts. For this reason, the kinetics of the coke formation was studied during dehydrogenation of butylenes in atmosphere of water vapor on a chromium- calcium- nickel phosphate catalyst (0. 5 to 1. 0 mm grains) at 570, 610, and 650 C. Mechanism and equations defining the coke formation are proposed.
