Abstract:
The catalytic activity of the tetrasulfophthalocyanines of copper, nickel, vanadyl, iron, zinc, and cobalt is compared with that of the sulfates of these metals for the oxidation of hydrogen sulfide in aqueous solutions. The cobalt tetrasulfophthalocyanine was found to be partpcularly active. The mechanism for the action of this catalyst is related with the change in the coblat's valence. The features of the catalytic oxidation of hydrogen sulfide at different pH values is discussed as well as the mechanism for the formation of the different products from the oxidation of hydrogen sulfide.
